Imagine you are walking down the street with a friend doing a little window shopping. You are just going about your business and enjoying a normal afternoon. All of a sudden, someone approaches you awkwardly. At first, you don’t think anything of it, but you look down and this person is holding a gun against you.
They say they are going to kill you because of all the mistakes you have made in your life. They say you don’t deserve to live any longer because of how you have messed up. Your friend notices this interaction and steps in front of you and offers his life for yours. With little hesitation, your friend is hunched over on the ground in your arms and the shooter is nowhere in sight. He gave his life for your burdens and mistakes. He gave his life so you could live yours.
It’s wild because your friend didn’t just do that for you while you were window shopping. He did it for me a block over, and for someone else in another state, and yet another person in another part of the world. He sacrificed himself for all of us.
This is what Jesus did for us. He sacrificed his life for all our sins and burdens. We don’t deserve this sacrifice, but we get it anyway. The greatest thing is death didn’t hold Him because He rose again on the 3rd day. He conquered death and the sins of this world. He conquered death so you don’t have to be burdened by your past mistakes and sins. He died so you could live.
How are you going to live knowing that Jesus did this for you? He stepped in front of the metaphorical bullet for you.
Does that change your approach to life?
Does that change the way you look at every single day?
I don’t deserve that sacrifice and I don’t think enough about what He has done for me.
Be thankful that your mistakes don’t hold you back. God still loves and cares for you no matter how worthy you think you are. He rolled the stone away from the grave for you.
He is risen indeed! Happy Easter!
I appreciate you.
