I came across this encouraging quote this past week: “You are afraid of what people will think while others are scared of your potential.” Don’t hold me that quote, because I know that’s not exact. The meaning is what matters.
If we live afraid of what others think, we won’t live into our full potential. You may see a situation that’s intimidating or frightening. You may be scared, but others are anticipating your success. Where you see a mountain, others only see a hill. Others see your best when you don’t see it. What if we live our life knowing how much others think we can succeed?
Athletics is a perfect example. For a big race, every team is analyzing how they stack up against the competition. You may be scared of how you will perform compared to others, but the other teams are scared of how well they know you can perform. When you are scared, they are terrified. If you see your potential in a race, game, or match, you hold an advantage over others.
Notice when others don’t see their potential. Believe in others more than they believe in themselves. Speak life into them. When you tell others what you see in them, they will start to believe in themselves.
When you are worried about what others think, you paralyze your ability to succeed. “If you live for people’s acceptance you will die from their rejection.” There is more in you than you know.
See your potential.
Others know you can accomplish great things. Go get it.
I appreciate you.
