A big trend for millennials and younger generations is the desire to have a meaningful and purposeful job. We want our lives to make a difference in the world. We want to impact the people around us. I love seeing how people want an underlying motive behind their work besides earning a paycheck to pay the bills. Some people can pinpoint exactly what they want to do. They can tell you the calling for their life and the exact job they are going to work for the rest of their life. Most people aren’t so lucky.
Maybe you are questioning what your purpose is. Maybe you don’t know what you are supposed to do. You feel overwhelmed because society tells you that you need to have your life figured out.
Maybe you feel like your best days are behind you. You think that you have already peaked. What else do you have left to do? What else could you possibly do that could make the world a better place?
To both of you, as long as there’s breath in your lungs, God isn’t finished with you. I know that God is still using you because you are still here. You wouldn’t be here otherwise. God may have some big plan to affect millions of people with your life, or it could be just to offer wisdom and advice to a few along the way. Each is meaningful and valued. What is seen as small and insignificant to today’s culture could be the most meaningful event of someone’s life. You have no idea how you can subtly change another person’s life without realizing it.
You will go through times when everything is dark and cloudy that leaves you questioning if the sun exists. You will go through hardship that leaves you questioning if there is anything valuable on the other side. When you are going through those valleys, remember that God is still using you. If you are still on this earth, God is still using you. Your purpose is not finished, it may be just beginning.
Andy Mineo says it best, “As long as there’s breath in my lungs, I ain’t done.”
You’re still breathing, have hope.
Be patient.
Know that you are important.
God’s not finished with you.
I appreciate you.
